Reports to the Township Supervisor. Is responsible for the overall direction and management of the Planning/Zoning Department. Is the liaison to the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. Is responsible for working with the Planning Commission and other agencies in the implementation and revision of the Township Master Plan. Acts as the Township Zoning Administrator and is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Township Zoning Ordinance. Also acts as the coordinator of the Development Review process involving various outside agencies, consultants and the Planning Commission. The Planning Director/Zoning Administrator shall have the following specific responsibilities:
- Directs or participates in the studies regarding development in the Township.
- Makes recommendations to the Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and the Township Board regarding developments.
- Reviews Site plans and consults with developers and appropriate reviewing agencies to ensure compliance with Township Ordinances and Policies.
- Receives and processes zoning applications for variances, special land use permits, site plan reviews and planned unit developments.
- Prepares case files and publishes notices in connection with the public hearings and informational meetings.
- Recommends and prepares requested or needed resolutions and ordinances.
- Councils and advises the Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Township Board, developers, property owners, realtors and others in various planning and zoning matters.
- Represents the Township in legal matters involving zoning ordinance violations.
- Reviews Special Land Use Permits on a yearly basis.
- Prepares special reports and gathers any other information requested by the Planning Commission or Township Board.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
- Review land divisions, combinations, lot line adjustments for zoning compliance.
- Works closely with township building inspector with building permits for zoning compliance.
- Attends continuing education classes to maintain Zoning Administrator Certification.
